KOREA Simcheong



Adapted from one of Korea’s most well-known classic tale “Simcheong”, the creative team has produced a new genre of pansori drama. “Simcheong, a girl of filial piety, sacrifices herself to the sea for her blind father. Today, Simcheong, a dutiful and caring daughter, speaks to you.”

Performance Characteristics

Traditional art performance that can be enjoyed at Korea House, a traditional house located in downtown Seoul! KOREA Simcheong is performed by the Korea House Arts Company and showcased by the Korea Cultural Heritage Foundation, who has preserved and introduced traditional Korean arts and performances for the past 36 years! Korea’s well-known classic tale “Simcheong” is combined with media arts to create a new genre of traditional arts performance. Based on the storyline of “Simcheong”, different dance genres and media art techniques are used in the musical. Various genres of traditional Korean performing arts including court dance, pungmulnori (percussion band music), ogomu(five-drum dance), pansori (musical storytelling performance), Buchaechum (fan dance) and more will be presented on stage.
