Three chefs begin yet another busy day in the kitchen by preparing vegetables and arranging kitchen utensils. The grumpy manager enters and unexpectedly orders the chefs to prepare dishes for an unscheduled wedding reception by 6pm. The manager also brings in his naughty nephew, demands that the chefs teach him how to cook and storms out of the kitchen. The chefs ignore the nephew and hurriedly begin preparing dishes.
While working together to prepare for the wedding reception, they constantly bicker over one thing or another in the kitchen. However, the three chefs and the nephew become closer and start working as one team. As the show continues, the audience members also become the part of the stage.
The chefs come up with creative ideas to prepare for a perfect banquet. Thanks to their efforts, the party is a success.
A wedding reception prepared by the manager and four chefs!
A never experienced intensity and powerful energy will present the audience with touching moments of a wedding reception.
Nanta has rhythms, beats and body movements only.
As there is no language barrier, people of all ages from different countries can enjoy and empathize together, all of which has made the show a successful international debut. The show fully utilizes its strength of not being a show that represents a specific culture or presents ethnic differences, therefore it has been staged in numerous countries.
Korea has traditional rhythms that are used in pungak (samulnori) whose uniqueness is highly recognized by the international community. Nanta makes full use of these traditional rhythms, making the stage exciting and extravagant leaving the audience lost in the performance. Nanta is created by applying traditional Korean rhythms to a modern performance format, which indeed makes the show a huge global success.
[Projection mapping technology]
NANTA recently added amazing video performances which make the show more active and more abundant. Visualizing ‘cooking and Korean percussion’, harmony between ‘tempo and vegetable layout’, changing from ‘kitchen area to fighting area’ for using projection mapping. These can give you the memorable experience. You will be definitely satisfied with renewed NANTA!
Another strength that differentiates Nanta from other non-verbal musicals is audience members’ engagement and participation in the show. Audience members of Nanta often play the role of the bride or groom on stage for a surprise traditional wedding ceremony. Sometimes they compete with one another in a dumpling staking game. At other times, they play and perform with actors, creating rhythm in unison. Their participation makes the show more exciting and empathetic, creating unique characteristics of “Nanta”.
